Rainforest leaves

As part of our Rainforest topic this term, children have been looking at different shapes and types of leaves from the rainforest.

After observing photographs, they drew their outlines and developed their drawings through looking at some of the negative spaces created by the leaf stalks and veins.  They added shading to give dimension to their drawings.

The next step is to use coloured blending pencils using similar shading techniques, to develop their understanding of colour blending for effect.
