History of music

This term both Class Three and Class Four are studying some of the history of music. Having begun a few weeks ago listening to Gregorian chant, plainsong and the music of Hildegard of Bingen, we have now moved on as far as the Baroque Period, passing the Rennaissance on the way.
It is proving to be an opportunity to consider the chronology of history as well as music, and children have been referring to our music timeline in the school hall.
Today, most of them decided that their favourite was Pachelbel's Canon, describing it as calm, working in layers and absorbing.
