Governors' assembly
Date: 29th Apr 2016 @ 9:12pm
As part of our themed 'School Community' week for our assemblies, our Chair of Governors organised for some more of our Governing Body to come into school and meet the children. This is a continuation of the response to the survey completed by the children, who, in the autumn term, told us that they did not really know many of our governors or what they did.
It was great to welcome Jackie Wilson, Chris Ward and Adam Friend, as well as Chris Lightfoot, and our theme this time concerned the different roles which our governors fill, whether it is supporting specific subject areas, such as Maths, Science or English, or as our class governors. As governors, Mr Hudson and myself also supported the assembly, and explained some of the areas that we are involved in.
Jackie was a particularly welcome visitor; she is an ex-parent of the school, and her business is located in Clotton. Her role is now to look at fundraising for the school, and she excited the children straight away by giving them the 'Smartie Challenge', a project whereby they will be given a free tube of Smarties, which, when they have emptied, they need to fill with coins to help raise money for the school. (They were also asked to 'earn' the money by being helpful around the home.)
The children are definitely becoming more familiar with seeing all our governors in school, and this can only help to gel our school community together to support everyone.
Thank you to all those governors who spared the time to visit us on Thursday
