Class 2, A new month
Date: 2nd Oct 2023 @ 8:09pm
We can't believe that it is October already. Time really does fly when you are having fun!
By now the children are well settled into their new classroom and have completed lots of work in their latest topics. Their knowledge about the Romans and how they eventually conquered parts of Britain continues to impress us. We have learnt through a variety of activities such as group work, role play, reading, their own research and videos and short films. They understand how and why The Romans invaded and what Britain looked like at this time. Thoses Iron Age Celts sounded extremely wild and fierce.
In Literacy, we have written poems about the main character of our story, Jub. She delivers happy endings of stories to the restles children. The children are fascinated with Jub's important job and we learn more about the personality and the motivation of this mysterious girl through each beautifullu illustrated page. In our latest lesson, we went into the woods to read the story and a witch emerged. We can't wait to see what happens next.
In Science the children have extended their knowledge of forces and are now exploring friction. They are designing their own investigations to explore the surfaces that cars travel further on. Pupils predicted what would happen and what they could do to ensure that the tests were fair. They are great scientists.
In Maths, we have continued to look at place value, ordering, identifying and comparing numbers using a variety of resources, such as numberlines, part whole, models, place value grids, base ten and numicon. Class Two have also challenged themselves with their times tables. This week, we are looking at 3's and 6's.
The class have also continued to learn about staying safe online, used water colours to explore Harvest fruits and written Harvest prayers. Our music topic, motifs is extremely interesting and we have learnt two new songs.
