Liverpool trip

Date: 19th May 2016 @ 8:19pm

Class Four visited the Maritime Museum in Liverpool today, to link with their topic of Benin in West Africa.

Taking our sketchbooks with us, we spent time looking carefully at exhibits, which included jars, jewellery, weapons, musical instruments and pattern work.  The children were really patient with their sketches and spent a great deal of time trying to make them as accurate as possible.

After looking at the exhibition about life in West Africa, we went on to the slavery exhibition.  This proved to be challenging to understand, and the children were shocked and full of questions about why the slave trade had happened, and how people could treat others like that.  Their reactions were brilliant; their questions were mature and insightful, and the visit certainly proved to be very thought-provoking for all.
